Save-A-Turtle relies on volunteers and donations to fulfill its mission to preserve and protect sea turtles while educating the public of the Florida Keys, through outreach programs and events, about what we can all do to help these magnificent animals.  We hope to extend our public education globally through our website and social media as well.

There are so many ways you can help Save-A-Turtle in the Florida Keys!  Volunteers are always needed from monitoring sea turtles nests to education and outreach and beach clean-ups.   If you live in the Florida Keys, or spend several months here during the year, we'd love to have you join one of our teams.

Become a Sponsor of Save-A-Turtle

You don't have to live in the Florida Keys to help SAT.  Our supporters are worldwide!  By becoming a sponsor, you are supporting our mission of education the public and preserving  sea turtles of the Florida Keys.

Your sponsorship is tax deductible, and 100% of all sponsorship's  go directly to our sea turtle conservation efforts, which include, but are not limited to:
  • Beach and nest monitoring and surveys
  • Data Collection of hatchlings for the State of Florida
  • Turtle rescue & relocation when needed
  • Beach Clean-up
  • Turtle friendly lighting education for local residents and businesses
  • Outreach programs within the community and local schools​

Adopt a Baby Turtle or Nest
Adoption Certificates:
Adoptive parents will receive a certificate for their  turtle adoptions. The certificates are suitable for framing and make great gifts. You may specify yourself or your gift recipient as the adoptive parent, and each certificate includes a photo of your baby turtle(s) with their name(s) chosen by you.

You may adopt a single turtle, twins, triples, quads, quints or an entire nest!  Adoptions are available for as little as $15.

Note that adoption is symbolic only!  No live hatchlings are ever held in captivity.

​Your adoption is a 100% tax deductible donation.  All adoption proceeds go directly to our sea turtle conservation efforts as stated above.

Sponsor a Beach Walker

Our Permitted beach walkers and turtle nest surveyors are a dedicated group of volunteers throughout the Keys who rise before the sun every day and patrol our beaches for turtle nests.  EVERY DAY, rain or shine! 

Once a nest is spotted, it is staked out and monitored until it hatches. Upon nesting, data such as species  and size (determined by tracks) are recorded.  After a successful hatch, the nest is excavated and data is collected and passed along to the State of Florida. This data is critical, as it helps provide an insight into the nesting habits, and hatchlings , along with an abundance of information that is used to help protect our beautiful sea turtles worldwide.

If you’d like to be a part of this special team, but are unable to physically join us, you can still help our volunteers by sponsoring a beach walker.  Your contribution purchases all of the supplies needed (t-shirt, bucket, tape, gloves, stakes,etc) , is tax deductible and 100% goes to help Save-A-Turtle do what we do best!  Thank you for your support!
