Save-A-Turtle relies on volunteers and donations to fulfill its mission to preserve and protect sea turtles while educating the public of the Florida Keys and beyond about what we can all do to help these magnificent animals.  We do this through in-person events, cleanup partnerships, our website and social media.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are so many ways you can help Save-A-Turtle in the Florida Keys!  Volunteers are always needed, from monitoring sea turtles nests to education and outreach, and beach clean-ups.   If you live in the Florida Keys, or spend several months here during the year, we'd love to have you join one of our teams.

Sponsor a Beach Walker

Our permitted beach walkers are a dedicated group of volunteers across the Florida Keys. They rise before the sun every single day—rain or shine—to patrol our beaches for turtle nests.
Once a nest is spotted, it’s marked and monitored until it hatches. At the time of nesting, data such as species and size (based on track measurements) are recorded. After a successful hatch, the nest is excavated, and more data is collected and submitted to the State of Florida.
This information is vital—it offers insight into nesting habits, hatchling success, and contributes to global sea turtle conservation efforts.
